We Have Moved!

     Over the years we have been growing, adding on rented space every year, service parts, equipment & molds scattered across three counties. In the fall of 2007 we decided to purchase a property and consolidate. Bring everything together in one place, “a place for everything and everything in its place” so to say going “lean” to keep control of manufacturing and the cost of doing business. Now our shop, office, and living space are all in one location, son and grandbabies live next door and dad/ grandpa lives above the shop and office building.

     The price of oil, has quadrupled in the last eight years doubling the price of polyurethane but we have not raised our prices and don’t intend to do so. We have spent the last two years cutting costs, moving everything to one location, doing our own printing, and one thing that we hope doesn’t cause any inconvenience to our customers, we eliminated the fax line. It will upset the twenty or so marketers of insurance, cruises, stock tips and all the other peddlers that waste paper. For the one business related fax we received a month a hundred dollar bill just wasn’t worth it. Now days most correspondence goes through e-mail anyways so we felt as if the fax line could be eliminated.

     Five years ago we tried the partner thing, which we were advised not to do, but gave it a chance and learned our lesson the costly way. To make a long story short, SPS is back to being a family owned and operated business. Blood is thicker than water when it comes to watching where the dollars go.

     Due to the overwhelming demand, we have slowly been shifting our focus over the last three years to feed chain components such as feed chains, friction pads, hold down blocks & wheels, and replacement tracks, and from time to time we pick up used machines, strip off the saleable components, inspect, clean, and store for future needs.

     We have been told that most businesses fold within the first three years and the rest of them in the next two years. Well we can totally understand why that happens for now we can say “we’ve been there”. Now we’re into our tenth year, but just when  there was a few dollars leftover in the checking account a few years back the economy fell apart. It’s a good thing we were prepared!

    Thanks to all of our customers who continue to support us, SPS will be around for a while annoying the O.E.M. ‘s (Original Equipment Manufacturers) with our products and pricing habits, while we save the owners of older machinery.  $$$$$$$
